Cedar Lake Cellars and Missouri Pyrotechnic Association

To Our Valued Customers,

You may have heard some conflicting stories about Pyromania 2020, and we wanted to take this opportunity to provide more clarity about the history and future of Pyromania at Cedar Lake Cellars.

After Missouri Pyrotechnics Association (MoPyro) encountered several issues in operating the Pyromania event, MoPyro approached us and requested that Cedar Lake Cellars (CLC) takeover producing, operating, and growing the Pyromania event. MoPyro wanted to focus only on the fireworks display and let CLC handle all the logistics and facility requirements. MoPyro knew and supported that CLC would have to make significant expenditures to ensure a successful event. MoPyro agreed that CLC would be paid back for these expenditures from ticket revenue.

Based on the MoPyro promises and our legal agreement, CLC spent hundreds of thousands of dollars producing and growing the Pyromania event. Not only did we make the numerous changes to our property that MoPyro specifically requested, but we also committed a team of CLC employees to marketing, branding, and expanding the event. CLC also paid MoPyro tens of thousands of dollars in fees under our agreement to put on the fireworks display.

As a result of CLC’s efforts and investment, Pyromania rapidly grew from an event attended by a few thousand people to one attended by more than 11,000 people in 2019.

In late 2019, after substantial investments by CLC to grow the event, MoPyro abruptly, and without any explanation, informed CLC that it was backing out of our legal agreement. This left CLC with over one hundred thousand dollars in unpaid expenditures for improvements specifically requested by MoPyro. CLC has not made any profit from the event, and MoPyro has still not repaid CLC for the previous expenditures.

Because of our investment in time and money and the CLC team’s passion for the Pyromania event, CLC, consistent with the legal agreement between MoPyro and CLC, has decided to continue holding Pyromania at CLC.

We understand that there is some confusion, and a few individuals have become rather emotional about the Pyromania event. However, any disrespectful messages insulting our business, our customers, or our staff are unfair and unwarranted and will not be tolerated. Any such statements will be removed from our social media.

CLC has taken legal action against MoPyro because the association broke our legal agreement and still owes CLC a large amount of money. We stand by our decision to move forward with the Pyromania event at Cedar Lake Cellars and make it better than ever. As always, we appreciate the continued support of our loyal CLC customers and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thank you,
Cedar Lake Cellars
